The GUHRING 9003010011800 is a cobalt micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. Built to DIN 1899 specification in Series 301, it features a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning for clean entry and reduced thrust. The drill measures 1.18 mm (0.0465 inches) in diameter with a 1.50 mm straight-cylindrical shank, a spiral flute length of 7.60 mm, and an overall length of 25 mm (approximately 0.984 inches). The cobalt construction provides heat and wear resistance for demanding materials. Diameter tolerance is held to +0.000 to -0.004 mm for consistent, repeatable results. Installed by machinists and precision fabricators working with close-tolerance components.
This micro drill is suited for applications in aluminum, titanium alloy, and similar workpiece materials where tight tolerances and small diameters are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support chip evacuation in shallow to moderate-depth holes, with a maximum drilling depth of 5.83 mm (0.230 inches). The bright/uncoated finish makes it well matched to non-ferrous metals where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern. Typical use includes precision instrument manufacturing, aerospace component drilling, and electronics assembly fixtures where wire gauge sizing standards apply.
Designed for use in precision drilling applications with primary workpiece materials including aluminum (material codes K, M, N, P) and secondary materials including titanium alloy (material code S), as specified by the manufacturer for this series.
This drill bit is installed by machinists and precision fabricators using CNC machining centers, drill presses, or hand-held precision drilling equipment with appropriately sized collets or chucks. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before use, as micro drill bits are sensitive to misalignment and deflection. Power down and lock out all equipment before changing tooling. Cutting speeds and feeds should follow manufacturer recommendations for cobalt tooling in the specific workpiece material being drilled.
