The GUHRING 9003010006500 is a cobalt micro drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in small-diameter applications. Built to DIN 1899 specification, it features a 0.0256-inch diameter with a 118-degree faceted drill point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry thrust. The spiral flute design promotes chip evacuation in shallow-to-moderate depth holes. At 0.984 inches overall length with a 1.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard micro drill chucks and collets. The bright, uncoated cobalt construction provides heat resistance and edge retention without added coating thickness, which matters at this diameter tolerance range of +0.000 to -0.004 mm. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This micro drill bit is suited for precision drilling in aluminum, titanium alloy, and other materials within its K, M, N, P, and S workpiece material codes. It performs well in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual micro-drilling fixtures where tight positional accuracy is required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 0.126 inches (3.23 mm), making it appropriate for shallow through-holes and blind holes in thin stock, circuit boards, instrument components, and lightweight alloy parts. Series 301 identifies this as part of a standardized Guhring micro drill product family.
Designed for use with standard micro drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 1.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are aluminum and non-ferrous metals (K, M, N, P codes) with secondary suitability for titanium alloys (S code) per Guhring Series 301 application guidelines.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with micro-diameter tooling. Secure the shank fully in a precision collet or micro chuck before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the diameter, as small deviations cause breakage at this size. Power down or de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing tooling. Avoid side-loading or hand pressure during drilling, as micro drill bits are highly susceptible to breakage from lateral force.
