The GUHRING 9003010001300 is a cobalt micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. It measures 0.0051 inches in diameter with an overall length of 0.984 inches and a 118-degree faceted point angle. The cobalt construction handles elevated heat and work-hardening materials that would degrade standard high-speed steel tooling. A spiral flute with web-thinned, tapered web configuration improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust force at the cutting tip. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating buildup or dimensional interference cannot be tolerated. This bit is designed for machinists, toolmakers, and precision fabricators working with tight-tolerance micro drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for use in CNC machining centers, micro-drill presses, and precision hand-held spindle units where sub-0.010-inch diameter holes are required. Primary workpiece material is aluminum, with secondary application in titanium alloy. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 0.024 inches maximum. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 1.00 mm shank diameter seats cleanly in standard collets and precision chucks. Series 301 conforms to DIN 1899 specification, making it a recognized standard for micro-drill tooling across aerospace, electronics, and precision-mechanical shops.
Designed for use with standard collet chucks and precision drilling spindles accepting a 1.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for drilling aluminum as the primary workpiece material and titanium alloy as the secondary workpiece material, per manufacturer material codes K, M, N, P, and S.
Micro drill bits in this diameter range require a precision collet or high-concentricity chuck to minimize runout, which can break the tool immediately on contact. Always verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before seating the shank. Power down and de-energize the spindle completely before changing tooling. Due to the extremely small diameter, avoid side loading or angular entry, as this will cause immediate tool fracture.
