The GUHRING 9003010001000 is a cobalt micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. Built to DIN 1899 specification, it features a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning on a tapered web configuration, which reduces thrust force at entry and improves centering accuracy. The spiral flute design promotes chip evacuation in shallow holes. At 0.0039 inches in diameter with an overall length of 0.984 inches, this bit is intended for micro-machining operations where dimensional accuracy is critical. It is installed and operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators working with tight-tolerance bores.
This drill bit is suited for use in precision machining centers, CNC drilling machines, and bench-top drill presses configured for micro-diameter work. Its primary rated workpiece material is aluminum (material code K, M, N, P), with secondary applicability to titanium alloys (material code S). The right-hand cutting direction and straight-cylindrical shank with a 1.00 mm shank diameter make it compatible with standard collet and chuck tooling systems used in high-speed micro-drilling setups. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 0.014 inches (0.35 mm), consistent with its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio.
Rated for primary use in aluminum workpieces (material codes K, M, N, P) and secondary use in titanium alloy workpieces (material code S). Fits toolholders and collets accepting a 1.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Micro drill bits of this diameter require a precision collet or chuck with minimal runout — standard three-jaw chucks are not suitable for reliable results at this scale. Secure the workpiece rigidly before drilling; any lateral movement at this diameter will cause bit deflection or breakage. Spindle speed and feed rate must be dialed in per the workpiece material; consult the manufacturer feed-speed tables for cobalt tooling in aluminum and titanium alloy. Inspect the cutting edge under magnification before each use, as micro drill bits at 0.0039 inches are susceptible to edge chipping that is not visible to the naked eye.
