The GUHRING 9002230056100 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for precision drilling in steel and cast iron. Built from M2 high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it holds a Size 2 wire gauge diameter of 0.2210 inches and features a standard 118-degree split point with web thinning for easier penetration and reduced walking. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2209 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard chucks. With an overall length of 2.5984 inches and a flute length of 1.102 inches, the stub format provides added rigidity in tight clearance setups. Licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and toolroom operators rely on this bit for production drilling applications.
This drill bit is built for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual lathes where a shorter-than-jobber-length bit is preferred for improved rigidity and reduced deflection. It is well suited for drilling into mild steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in production and maintenance environments. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration help with chip evacuation in shallow-to-medium depth holes. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 0.7710 inches. It conforms to DIN 1897 standards, making it interchangeable with other DIN 1897-compliant stub drill bits of the same diameter.
Conforms to DIN 1897 specification for stub-length drill bits. Designed as a direct replacement for any DIN 1897-compliant Size 2 wire gauge stub drill bit with a 0.2210-inch diameter. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, lathe, or CNC spindle. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened to the tool manufacturer's specification before operation. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 0.7710 inches without retracting to clear chips. Cutting fluid or coolant is recommended when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life, even though this bit does not feature through-coolant capability.
