The GUHRING 9002230029500 is a screw machine length (stub length) drill bit designed for high-speed, high-accuracy drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and production environments. Built to DIN 1897 specification, it is manufactured from M2 high-speed steel with an oxide coating that reduces friction and provides basic corrosion resistance. The bit cuts a 0.1160 inch (Number 32 wire gauge) hole with a standard 118-degree point angle and right-hand spiral flute geometry. Its compact 1.811 inch overall length makes it well suited for close-tolerance setups where a jobber-length bit would introduce unnecessary deflection. Machinists, tool-and-die techs, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This bit is used in screw machine operations, drill press work, CNC machining centers, and hand drill applications where a rigid, short-length bit is preferred over jobber or taper length alternatives. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support chip evacuation in shallow-to-medium depth holes. It is appropriate for drilling mild steels, aluminum, brass, and similar workpiece materials common in light manufacturing and maintenance applications. The straight cylindrical shank with a 0.1161 inch diameter seats directly into standard drill chucks without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for Number 32 wire gauge screw machine length drill bits conforming to DIN 1897 specification with a straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance mechanics using a standard drill chuck sized for the 0.1161 inch straight shank. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the machine is at a complete stop before changing or seating the bit. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole tolerance. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear before use; a chipped or dull point will cause oversize holes and increased thrust load on the spindle.
