The GRIP-RITE BT1661MR is a precut annealed steel bar tie wire used to secure rebar intersections and hold reinforcing steel grids in position during concrete pours. Sold in a 1000-piece bag, each tie is 6 inches long and made from 16-gauge annealed steel wire. Annealed wire is soft and pliable, making it easy to twist tight with a standard tie wire twister or rebar tying tool. The BT1661MR is a staple consumable on concrete flatwork, foundations, walls, and structural slab projects where maintaining rebar spacing and position is required before and during the pour.
These bar ties are suited for residential and light commercial concrete construction as well as farm and general-purpose applications. Ironworkers and concrete contractors use them on foundation footings, slabs on grade, retaining walls, and similar reinforced concrete assemblies. The 6-inch length is a widely used standard size compatible with common rebar grid tying techniques. The 1000-count bag format supports high-volume tying work on larger pours without frequent resupply.
Designed for general-purpose rebar tying applications in reinforced concrete construction, including residential foundations, slabs, and walls where standard bar tie wire is specified.
Bar tie wire is installed by ironworkers and concrete forming crews as part of rebar cage assembly prior to concrete placement. Use a manual tie wire twister or automatic rebar tier to loop and twist the wire around rebar intersections. Ensure ties are snug enough to prevent grid movement during the pour but avoid over-twisting, which can snap the wire. Follow project engineer or inspector requirements for tie spacing and placement patterns per applicable building codes.
