The GEORGE RISK INDUSTRIES INC. 28A-W is a surface-mount magnetic contact designed for door and window security sensing applications. This single-gap contact ships in white and installs flush or recessed against a frame surface without requiring routed pockets in the frame itself. It is a low-voltage sensing device used in alarm and access-control circuits. Security installers and low-voltage electricians are the typical trades that handle this component. The trim-style housing keeps the profile clean while maintaining reliable gap sensing for the switch actuation point.
This contact is suited for residential and light commercial intrusion-detection and access-control systems. It is typically installed on door frames, window frames, or cabinet doors where a clean, finished appearance is required. The surface or hidden-trim mounting style allows use in applications where drilling a deep recess is not practical. Single-gap configuration means one magnet-to-contact pair per installation point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation surface contact for residential and light commercial door and window alarm circuits.
Installation is typically performed by licensed low-voltage technicians or alarm system installers in accordance with local codes and NEC Article 725 for Class 2 and Class 3 circuits. De-energize the alarm control panel circuit before making wire connections to the contact leads. Mount the contact to the stationary frame and the magnet to the moving door or sash, maintaining the manufacturer-specified gap alignment for reliable actuation. Avoid overtightening mounting fasteners, as this can crack the housing.
