The GREENLEE 7304 is a 9-piece hydraulic standard punch kit designed for cutting clean, precise round holes in mild steel panels, electrical enclosures, and junction boxes. It handles mild steel up to 10 gauge and produces a maximum punch hole diameter of 4 inches. The hydraulic operating method reduces the physical effort required compared to manual punch sets, making it well suited for repeated use on a job site. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary users of this kit, deploying it for conduit entry work during panel installation, switchgear rough-in, and enclosure fabrication.
This kit is used in commercial and industrial electrical work where multiple conduit entries of varying sizes must be punched into steel enclosures. The included components cover 2-1/2 inch and 3 inch conduit sizes, with a punch and die pair for each, plus a 3-1/2 inch conduit size die. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit service work where clean knockouts are required in pre-assembled enclosures.
Kit includes the following components: 1429AV (2-1/2 inch conduit size punch), 1430AV (2-1/2 inch conduit size die), 1431AV (3 inch conduit size punch), 1432AV (3 inch conduit size die), and 2981AV (3-1/2 inch conduit size die). Designed for use with hydraulic knockout drivers compatible with GREENLEE standard punch tooling.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for conduit entries into listed enclosures. De-energize all equipment and verify zero energy state before punching into any enclosure that may house live conductors. Use the correct punch and die pair for each conduit size and ensure the draw stud is fully engaged before applying hydraulic pressure. Inspect punches and dies for wear or cracking before each use.
