The GREEN LEAF RM 3412 P is a polypropylene reducer nipple designed to transition between 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch pipe in threaded piping systems. Constructed from black polypropylene, this fitting uses male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connections on both ends for a secure, leak-resistant joint. The fitting is NSF 61 and NSF 372 certified, making it suitable for use in potable water applications where lead-free compliance is required. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of reducer nipple when downsizing supply lines, branch connections, or fixture feeds without adding extra couplings or adapters to the assembly.
This reducer nipple is intended for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a threaded plastic fitting is preferred over metal to reduce corrosion risk or weight. Typical applications include water distribution lines, irrigation systems, and chemical-handling setups where polypropylene's chemical resistance is an advantage. The MIPT x MIPT configuration threads directly into female-threaded fittings, valves, or ports on both the larger and smaller pipe sides, making installation straightforward in tight spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded plastic piping systems using 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch MIPT connections in potable water, irrigation, and chemical distribution applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Hand-tighten the fitting first, then use strap wrenches or channel-lock pliers appropriate for plastic fittings — avoid pipe wrenches that can crack polypropylene. Apply PTFE thread tape or a thread sealant rated for plastic fittings to the male threads before installation. Always shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting.
