The GREAT LAKES COPPER 24386 is a pre-sleeved copper gas line assembly designed for natural gas and LP gas distribution in residential and light commercial installations. The assembly pairs factory-coated copper tubing with a durable high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sleeve, eliminating the need for on-site sleeving in applications that require additional mechanical or corrosion protection. At 5/8 inch diameter and 60 feet in length, this product suits runs where the tubing must pass through concrete, high-traffic areas, flower beds, or door thresholds. The continuous line marking along the yellow sleeve aids identification during and after installation. Standard flare fittings are used at connections, requiring no special tooling or additional training beyond what licensed gas technicians already carry.
This gas line assembly is intended for special-application gas installations where standard unsleeved tubing would face elevated risk of physical damage or corrosion. Typical use cases include underground burial under concrete slabs, below-grade routing, and above-grade runs through areas with frequent foot traffic or landscaping contact. The HDPE sleeve protects the inner copper tube from exterior damage and corrosive soil contact. When buried under concrete, the sleeve also allows the copper tubing to be pulled out and replaced without requiring jackhammer demolition of the slab. Licensed plumbers and gas technicians install this product in both residential and light commercial settings.
Designed for use with standard flare fittings in natural gas and LP gas distribution systems. Suitable for above-ground and below-ground special-application gas line installations where factory sleeving is required for corrosion protection or physical damage prevention.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or gas technician in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off and verify gas supply is fully isolated before making any connections. Use standard flare fittings at all terminations and leak-test all joints after completing the installation. When routing below concrete, confirm local code requirements for burial depth, sleeving specifications, and tracer wire where applicable.
