The GOODMAN arvt961005cn is a 96 AFUE two-stage, variable-speed ECM gas furnace designed for upflow and horizontal installation in residential and light-commercial forced-air heating systems. Rated at 100,000 BTU/h high-fire input with a measured output of 96,100 BTU/h, it delivers efficient heat transfer through a gas heat exchanger with minimal standby losses. The ECM blower motor runs at up to 1,200 RPM with a variable-speed drive, reaching a maximum airflow of 1,780 cubic feet per minute in heating mode. The two-stage gas valve allows the unit to operate at 70,000 BTU/h low-fire input for reduced cycling and improved comfort. Licensed HVAC technicians perform installation and startup.
This furnace is configured for upflow or horizontal orientation, making it suitable for basement, closet, and attic installations where duct routing requires either vertical or horizontal discharge. The non-NOx burner configuration and ANSI certification support installation in jurisdictions with air-quality requirements. With a nominal cooling coil capacity of 60,000 BTU/h and a 5-ton tonnage rating, the unit is paired with a matching split-system cooling coil for year-round comfort. The communication-capable board supports integration with compatible thermostats and control systems. Single-phase, 115-volt, 60 Hz power feeds the unit, with a minimum circuit ampacity of 13.8 amps and a maximum overcurrent protection of 20 amps.
Designed as an OEM upflow/horizontal gas furnace for residential and light-commercial forced-air systems requiring a 96 AFUE, two-stage, variable-speed unit at 100,000 BTU/h input capacity with a nominal 5-ton cooling coil match.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes, the International Fuel Gas Code, and the manufacturer installation instructions. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power and shut off the gas supply at the service valve before any service work. Maintain the minimum clearance to combustible materials as specified and verify vent sizing against the selected 2-inch or 3-inch vent diameter before connecting to the flue system. Do not operate the unit before verifying gas pressure, electrical connections, and filter installation are complete.
