The GOODMAN arvm970804cn is a 97 AFUE modulating gas furnace designed for upflow and horizontal installations in residential and light-commercial applications. It delivers 80,000 BTU/h input capacity at high fire and 40,000 BTU/h at low fire, achieving a high-fire output of 77,600 BTU/h for efficient heat transfer. The unit runs on a variable-speed ECM blower motor rated at 1,250 RPM and 3/4 metric horsepower, allowing the system to match airflow precisely to heating demand. A modulating gas valve enables two-stage-style efficiency and comfort control across a wide range of operating conditions. Licensed HVAC technicians handle installation and commissioning of this unit.
This furnace is built for upflow and horizontal configurations, making it suitable for installations in utility closets, basements, crawlspace platforms, and attic applications where horizontal orientation is required. The unit supports a nominal 4-ton cooling coil at 48,000 BTU/h and is compatible with communicating system controls. With a Non-NOx burner design, it meets low-emission requirements in regions with air-quality mandates. The 115-volt, single-phase, 60 Hz power supply is standard for residential service, and the unit requires a minimum circuit ampacity of 11.4 amps with a 15-amp maximum overcurrent protection device.
Designed for upflow and horizontal residential and light-commercial gas furnace installations supporting up to 4 nominal tons of cooling capacity. Compatible with communicating system controls. Consult the equipment submittal and installation manual to confirm coil, thermostat, and venting system compatibility before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with the current edition of the IFGC, NFPA 54, and all applicable local codes. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power at the breaker before any service work. Venting must be sized and routed per the manufacturer installation instructions using 2-inch or 3-inch vent diameter as required; maintain a minimum 1-foot clearance to all combustible materials. Do not alter the factory wiring, gas train, or control board configuration without consulting the installation manual.
