The GOODMAN am9c961004cn is a 96 AFUE, two-stage, upflow/horizontal gas furnace with a multi-speed ECM blower motor. It delivers 100,000 BTU/h input capacity at high fire and 96,000 BTU/h output, achieving 96 percent thermal efficiency. The two-stage gas valve allows the unit to operate at a reduced 70,000 BTU/h input on low fire, improving comfort and efficiency during moderate heating loads. The ECM blower motor adjusts airflow to match demand, reducing electrical consumption compared to a standard PSC motor. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this unit as part of a ducted forced-air heating system in residential or light commercial applications.
This furnace is configured for upflow or horizontal installation, making it suitable for basement, closet, utility room, and attic installations where ductwork connects above or to the side of the unit. The unit width of 21 inches fits standard air handler closets and platform installations. With a nominal cooling capacity pairing of 48,000 BTU/h, it is sized to match a 4-ton cooling system. The low NOx burner design meets low-emission requirements in applicable jurisdictions. Single-phase, 115-volt power supply at 60 Hz is required, with a minimum circuit ampacity of 14.4 amps and maximum overcurrent protection of 25 amps.
Designed for ducted upflow or horizontal forced-air heating systems sized for 4-ton nominal cooling capacity. Compatible accessory and component part references from the manufacturer include: 0170K00000S, 0170K00001S, 0270F05404, 72950, 72951, AFE18-60A, EFR02, HASFK-2, LPLP03, LPM-08, LPM-08, and RF000142.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes, the National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54/ANSI Z223.1), and the manufacturer installation instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or connecting the unit. Verify that flue venting, gas line sizing, and electrical supply meet the specifications listed on the unit nameplate and in the installation manual. Do not exceed the maximum overcurrent protection rating of 25 amps when sizing the branch circuit.
