The GOODMAN ad9t960803bn is a 96 AFUE, two-stage, downflow and horizontal gas furnace rated for 80,000 BTU/h high-fire input. It uses a multi-speed ECM blower motor to deliver precise airflow across heating stages, improving comfort and energy efficiency compared to single-speed units. At 96% AFUE, the unit extracts nearly all available heat from combustion. Designed for ducted residential and light-commercial applications, this furnace is installed by licensed HVAC technicians in downflow or horizontal configurations. It is ENERGY STAR certified and ANSI certified, and it is produced in the United States. The unit operates on 115 volts, 60 Hz, single-phase power with a maximum overcurrent protection of 15 amps.
The ad9t960803bn is sized for 3-ton nominal cooling capacity and fits a 17.5-inch wide cabinet opening, making it compatible with matching Amana or Goodman coil cabinets designed for that width. The downflow and horizontal installation configuration suits basement, closet, utility room, and attic platform installations where supply air discharges downward or horizontally. The two-stage gas valve operates at 56,000 BTU/h low fire and 80,000 BTU/h high fire, allowing the system to modulate between 70 and 100 percent capacity depending on heating demand. Temperature rise range is 30 to 60 degrees F at low fire and 40 to 70 degrees F at high fire. This unit is well suited to new construction and equipment replacement projects in moderate to cold climates.
Designed as a downflow and horizontal ducted gas furnace replacement or new-installation unit within the Amana AD9T96 series. Cabinet width is 17.5 inches, suitable for matching 3-ton coil cabinets and air handlers designed for that dimension. Verify coil cabinet width, gas supply type, and flue venting configuration before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local codes and the current edition of the IFGC. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before any service work. The unit requires a Category IV venting system; do not connect to a B-vent or single-wall flue without verifying compliance with the installation manual and local authority having jurisdiction. Verify duct static pressure and airflow against the unit blower performance data before commissioning.
