The GIBRALTAR Z9092 is a case-hardened steel extra thick flat washer sized for 5/8-inch screws and fasteners. Manufactured to AISI/SAE 1005 material grade, this washer delivers a greater load-bearing surface and improved clamping force compared to standard flat washers. The plain finish leaves the steel surface uncoated, making it suitable for applications where contact with paints, adhesives, or secondary coatings is expected. At 1/4-inch thickness, it distributes fastener load evenly across the mating surface, reducing the risk of pull-through in softer substrates. Plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and general trade contractors install these washers during equipment mounting, structural fastening, and fixture attachment tasks.
This washer is appropriate for both residential and light commercial applications wherever a 5/8-inch threaded fastener requires extra load distribution. Common installation scenarios include equipment pad anchoring, pipe hanger assemblies, electrical panel mounting, and structural bracketing. The extra thickness is particularly useful when working with softer materials such as wood, plastic, or thin-gauge sheet metal, where a standard washer thickness may not provide adequate bearing surface.
Designed for use with 5/8-inch screws and bolts in standard inch-measurement fastener assemblies across residential and light commercial trade applications.
Installation requires no special tools beyond a standard wrench or socket set sized for the mating fastener. Confirm fastener and washer material compatibility before use in corrosive or wet environments, as the plain finish offers no corrosion protection. Follow applicable mechanical and structural codes, including AISC or local building code requirements, when using hardware in load-bearing assemblies. Always de-energize or depressurize the system before fastening equipment or components in electrical or plumbing applications.
