The GIBRALTAR Z2432 is a threaded rest button machined from low-carbon steel with a black oxide coating. It measures 13/16 inches in overall length and features a 3/8-inch head height. The 3/8-24 unified fine thread and 1/2-inch hex drive make it compatible with standard wrenches and installation tooling. Rest buttons of this type are used as precision stop and locating points in fixtures, jigs, and workholding assemblies. The black oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces surface galling during installation. This is a single-piece fastener hardware component sold individually.
Threaded rest buttons are commonly installed in machining fixtures, tool jigs, assembly nests, and sheet metal fabrication setups where a repeatable, rigid contact point is required. They are pressed or threaded into a workpiece or fixture plate to establish consistent part location. The 3/8-24 thread size fits standard tapped holes found in tooling plates and fixture blocks. This part is appropriate for light industrial, manufacturing, and machine shop applications where precise part positioning is needed.
Designed as a standard threaded rest button for use in machining fixtures, jigs, and workholding assemblies requiring a 3/8-24 threaded locating point.
Installation is performed by hand-threading into a pre-tapped 3/8-24 hole, then tightening with a 1/2-inch wrench or socket to the fixture plate specification. Ensure the mating hole is clean and free of burrs before installation to avoid cross-threading. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing fixtures or tooling assemblies that incorporate rest buttons.
