The GIBRALTAR Z1264 is a flat vent pull out dowel pin machined from case-hardened Grade C1215 steel. At 1/4 inch in diameter and 1.5 inches in overall length, it is designed for precise locating, alignment, and retrieval applications in tooling, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies. One end is beveled for guided entry into a bored hole; the other end is threaded to accept a puller or extraction tool. The tight diameter tolerance of 0.0001 to 0.0003 inches ensures consistent, repeatable fit in close-tolerance bored holes. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics use this type of pin in production and repair environments.
The flat vent design refers to the flat ground along the pin shank, which allows trapped air and lubricant to escape during insertion, preventing hydraulic lock in blind holes. This makes the Z1264 well suited for blind-hole locating applications in press fixtures, jigs, dies, and production machinery. The threaded pull end simplifies extraction without damage to the bore or surrounding workpiece, which is especially valuable in repetitive or high-cycle fixture applications.
Designed as an OEM-style locating component for use in tooling fixtures, jigs, dies, and mechanical assemblies requiring a 1/4 inch diameter flat vent pull out dowel pin with one beveled end and one threaded end.
Installation is performed by toolmakers, machinists, or maintenance mechanics familiar with close-tolerance pin and bore work. Ensure the receiving bore is clean, deburred, and within tolerance before driving or pressing the pin into position. A light application of machine oil on the shank is recommended to ease insertion and protect the bore. Use the threaded end with an appropriate extraction tool for removal — do not drive the pin out from the threaded end with a hammer, as this will damage the threads and may distort the bore.
