The GIBRALTAR SWPN-5A-PT-G is a threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, locating, and positioning applications in mechanical assemblies. The plunger features a 5/16-18 thread size with a 1 inch thread length and a steel body that provides reliable durability in industrial environments. The phenolic nose resists wear and reduces surface marking on mating components. A locking element is built into the body to prevent the plunger from backing out under vibration or repeated cycling. Initial end force is 1.5 pounds and final end force is 4.5 pounds, making this unit suitable for light-to-moderate retention and detent applications.
This spring plunger installs into threaded bores in fixtures, jigs, machine frames, and mechanical assemblies where repeatable positioning or light detent action is required. The steel body construction makes it appropriate for general industrial and manufacturing environments. The phenolic plunger nose is suited for applications where contact with softer or finished surfaces is a concern. Installers working on production equipment, tooling, or automation fixtures will find this plunger a straightforward drop-in for standard 5/16-18 threaded holes. Minimum order quantity is 1 unit.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in any application accepting a 5/16-18 threaded bore where a locking-style plunger with phenolic nose is specified.
Install using a hex key or spanner wrench sized for the body drive feature; thread into a clean, correctly tapped 5/16-18 hole and torque to the assembler specification for the host material. Ensure the bore is free of chips and debris before threading in the plunger to avoid damage to the locking element. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing assemblies that contain spring plungers. Do not exceed the rated end force by compressing the plunger nose beyond its specified projection travel.
