The GIBRALTAR SWN10-4-PT-G is a standard threaded spring plunger designed to provide controlled, spring-loaded positioning and indexing in mechanical assemblies. The steel body houses an internal spring and a nylon nose that delivers a 3/16-inch projection with an initial end force of 3 pounds and a final end force of 13 pounds. The locking element locks the plunger position once set, preventing unintended back-out under vibration or load. This type of hardware is installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and mechanical assembly technicians in fixtures, jigs, and precision mechanisms.
This spring plunger threads into a tapped 1/4-20 hole and is suited for light-duty positioning, detent, and alignment applications in industrial equipment, fixtures, and automated assembly tooling. The 1-inch thread length accommodates standard panel and block thicknesses. The nylon nose tip protects mating surfaces from marring, making it appropriate for use against finished or soft workpiece surfaces.

Installation is performed by hand or with a hex wrench or screwdriver depending on the drive type; ensure the receiving hole is cleanly tapped to 1/4-20 before threading in the plunger. Tighten the locking element to secure the plunger at the desired extension without over-torquing the nylon nose or spring assembly. De-energize or lock out any equipment before installing or adjusting spring plungers in automated fixtures or moving assemblies. Inspect the spring and nose for wear during routine maintenance intervals.
