The GIBRALTAR SWN10-3AP-G is a threaded spring plunger designed for use in positioning, locating, and indexing applications across mechanical assemblies. It features a 10-32 thread size with a 3/4 inch thread length and a steel body for durability under repeated actuation cycles. A nylon nose reduces surface marring on workpieces. The locking element secures the plunger in position once installed, preventing loosening from vibration or repeated load cycles. Initial end force is 1.3 pounds and final end force is 2.7 pounds, making it suitable for light-duty detent and retention applications. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assemblers install this type of component.
This spring plunger is used in machine tools, fixtures, jigs, and precision assemblies where a repeatable spring-loaded detent or positioning stop is required. The standard plunger length type and 1/8 inch projection make it appropriate for applications where minimal nose travel is needed. The steel body provides resistance to side loads while the nylon nose protects mating surfaces from scoring. It is sold individually and suited for both prototype and production environments.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in any fixture, jig, or mechanical assembly with a tapped 10-32 hole requiring a spring-loaded locating or indexing element.
A machinist or mechanical assembler typically installs threaded spring plungers using a hex key or screwdriver into a pre-tapped 10-32 hole. Ensure the receiving bore is clean and free of debris before installation. The locking element should be engaged fully to prevent rotation during service. Do not overtighten, as this can deform the plunger body or damage the locking element.
