The GIBRALTAR SWN10-1XFS-G is a short threaded spring plunger designed for use in positioning, indexing, and light-duty holding applications. The plunger body is made from steel, and the nose is Delrin, providing low-friction contact with minimal wear on mating surfaces. It features a 6-32 thread size with a 3/8 inch thread length, a maximum plunger diameter of 0.046 inches, and a 1/16 inch projection. Initial end force is 0.50 pounds and final end force is 3.50 pounds. This part is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers in jigs, fixtures, tooling, and light mechanical assemblies where controlled spring-loaded contact is required.
This spring plunger is suited for use in threaded mounting holes in metal or plastic components. Typical applications include alignment fixtures, assembly jigs, panel retention systems, and machine tool fixtures where a compact, low-profile plunger is needed. The short plunger length type makes it appropriate for installations with limited depth or clearance behind the mounting surface. No locking element is included, so the plunger is installed and removed using standard threading without a locking mechanism to contend with.
Designed as a standard-thread spring plunger replacement or new installation for fixtures, jigs, and mechanical assemblies that require a 6-32 threaded plunger with short projection and steel body construction.
Installation is performed by hand or with a standard hex key or screwdriver depending on the plunger drive style. Ensure the threaded mounting hole is clean and free of debris before threading in the plunger. Do not over-torque during installation, as the steel body can be damaged if forced beyond hand-tight engagement in softer base materials. Verify plunger projection and spring force requirements match the application before final assembly.
