The GIBRALTAR SSWPF10-8BL-G is a stainless steel press fit ball plunger designed for use in positioning, indexing, and light-duty detent applications. The body measures 0.5 inches in diameter and 1.1 inches in length, with a flanged design that seats flush against the mounting surface for secure, repeatable installation. The passivated stainless steel construction on both the body and ball provides corrosion resistance in demanding environments. With an initial end force of 4 pounds and a final end force of 9 pounds, this plunger delivers consistent spring-loaded engagement suitable for precision assembly fixtures, tooling, and machine components.
This ball plunger is suited for industrial, manufacturing, and mechanical assembly applications where a compact, corrosion-resistant detent or positioning element is required. The press fit installation method makes it appropriate for use in pre-drilled holes in metal fixtures, jigs, enclosures, and tooling plates. The flanged body provides positive axial stop during press-in, eliminating the need for additional retention hardware. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the typical installers in both production and MRO settings.
Designed as a standard press fit ball plunger suitable for pre-drilled mounting holes in metal tooling, fixture plates, enclosures, and mechanical assemblies requiring a spring-loaded detent or positioning element.
Press fit ball plungers are installed by pressing the body into a close-tolerance hole using an arbor press or similar controlled-force equipment — do not drive with an impact tool, as this can damage the internal spring or ball seat. Verify hole diameter matches the 0.5 inch body diameter tolerance specification before installation. De-burr the mounting hole and ensure the mating surface is clean and free of chips. Once pressed to the flange, the plunger is not intended to be removed and reused.
