The GIBRALTAR SSWN10-5BH-G is a threaded ball plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The plunger features a stainless steel body with a 5/16-18 thread and a nylon ball measuring 0.156 inches in diameter. The body length is 0.578 inches, and the ball extends a maximum of 0.04 inches beyond the body. Initial end force is 6 pounds, with a final end force of 17 pounds. This part is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers in production and industrial maintenance environments.
Threaded ball plungers in this size class are used in jigs, fixtures, machine tool components, and sheet metal assemblies where controlled detent force or light positioning is required. The 5/16-18 thread allows installation into standard tapped holes. The nylon ball is suited for use against softer mating surfaces where metal-to-metal contact is not desirable. This plunger ships individually and is appropriate for both OEM production builds and MRO replacement use.
Designed as a standard threaded ball plunger for use in any application requiring a 5/16-18 tapped hole and a nylon ball detent element.
Installation requires a properly tapped 5/16-18 hole in the receiving component. Use an appropriate hex key or driver to thread the plunger body to the specified depth for your application. Ensure the mating surface and bore are clean and free of debris before installation. No special tools or trade licensing are required, but proper thread engagement should be confirmed before placing the assembly into service.
