The GIBRALTAR SSWN10-4S-G is a stubby threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty locking applications in mechanical assemblies. The body is machined from stainless steel for corrosion resistance, while the nose is nylon for non-marring contact with mating surfaces. It threads into a standard 1/4-20 tapped hole with a thread length of 0.531 inches and delivers an initial end force of 3 pounds, building to a final end force of 10.5 pounds at full compression. The plunger projects 0.078 inches and reaches a maximum plunger diameter of 0.119 inches. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assemblers typically install this component.
This spring plunger suits applications in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and light production machinery where repeatable detent action or controlled resistance is required. The stainless steel body makes it appropriate for environments with exposure to moisture, mild chemicals, or wash-down conditions. The nylon nose eliminates scoring or galling on softer mating surfaces such as aluminum or plastic. Its stubby profile fits low-clearance installations where standard-length plungers do not fit.
Designed for installation into any 1/4-20 tapped hole where a stubby spring plunger with a stainless steel body and nylon nose is specified.
Install using a hex key or appropriate driver into a clean, properly tapped 1/4-20 hole. De-energize or lock out any machinery before installing or removing plungers in powered assemblies. Do not overtighten, as stainless steel fasteners are susceptible to galling in threaded steel bores without lubrication. Torque to the value specified in the host assembly design documentation.
