The GIBRALTAR SSWN10-10SL-G is a stubby threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty locking applications in industrial assemblies and fixtures. The body is machined from stainless steel, offering corrosion resistance in demanding environments. The nylon nose reduces marring on finished surfaces and dampens contact force. Thread size is 5/8-11 with a thread length of 1.062 inches and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.31 inches. Initial end force is 2 pounds and final end force is 8.5 pounds. The stubby body length of 1.062 inches suits applications where clearance behind the mounting surface is limited. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fixture builders are the typical installers.
This spring plunger is suited for use in jigs, fixtures, machine tool components, and assembly workholding devices where a compact, threaded positioning element is required. The stainless steel body makes it appropriate for wash-down environments, food-processing-adjacent tooling, or any application where mild chemical exposure is a concern. The nylon nose contact point is well suited for indexing against aluminum, plastic, or other soft-substrate components where a steel nose would cause unacceptable surface damage. No locking element is included, so the plunger threads freely into a tapped hole without a jam nut or nylon insert retention feature.

Installation requires a tapped 5/8-11 through-hole or blind hole of sufficient depth to accept the full 1.062-inch thread length. Use a hex wrench or appropriate spanner on the body flats to thread the plunger to the desired engagement depth. Ensure the mating hole is clean and free of chips before installation to avoid thread damage. Power down or de-energize any fixture or machine before servicing or replacing spring plungers in active tooling.
