The GIBRALTAR SSWN10-10BL-PTG is a threaded ball plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The body is machined from stainless steel and incorporates a nylon ball with a locking element to resist loosening under vibration. The 5/8-11 thread allows installation into standard tapped holes. Ball diameter measures 0.375 inches, body length is 0.984 inches, and maximum ball reach is 0.096 inches. Initial end force is 4.5 pounds and final end force is 9 pounds, providing a defined resistance range suitable for repeatable positioning tasks.
This ball plunger is suited for use in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, machine tool components, and automated assembly equipment where controlled detent force is required. The stainless steel body resists corrosion in light wash-down or humid environments. The nylon ball reduces the risk of marring mating surfaces, making it appropriate for applications where surface finish on the contact component must be preserved. Machinists, tool and die makers, and mechanical assembly technicians are the primary installers.
Designed as a standard 5/8-11 threaded ball plunger for use in any mechanical assembly or fixture that requires a tapped hole of that thread size and a low-force detent or indexing function.
Installation requires a properly tapped 5/8-11 hole in the receiving component. Use an appropriate hex wrench or spanner on the body flats to thread the plunger in to the desired depth without over-torquing the stainless steel body. Ensure the ball protrudes freely and the locking element is fully engaged before placing the assembly into service. Inspect the plunger periodically in high-cycle applications, as the nylon ball may wear over time.
