The GIBRALTAR SKLS-3-PT-G is a locking knob handle plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and holding applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. It features a 3/8-16 threaded shank with a 0.75-inch thread length and a knurled locking knob that allows the plunger to be manually retracted and locked in the retracted position. The plunger diameter ranges from 0.185 to 0.186 inches, with an initial end force of 0.5 pounds and a final end force of 3 pounds. Constructed from stainless steel, this plunger is suited for environments requiring corrosion resistance. Machinists, millwrights, and mechanical technicians typically install these components during machine setup or equipment assembly.
The SKLS-3-PT-G is used in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and light machinery where repeatable positioning or detent locking is required. The locking knob mechanism allows the plunger to be held in the retracted position, freeing both hands during part loading or changeover. This makes it well suited for production fixtures, assembly workholding, and adjustable mechanical stops in both light industrial and precision equipment applications.
Designed as a standard 3/8-16 threaded locking plunger suitable for use in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and mechanical assemblies requiring a retained locking spring plunger with a knurled knob handle.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger shank into a tapped 3/8-16 hole in the workpiece or fixture plate. Ensure the mating hole is clean and threaded to the correct depth to accommodate the 0.75-inch thread length. A wrench flat or the knurled knob may be used to achieve proper seating torque per the equipment manufacturer's fixture specifications. Retract and lock the plunger before inserting or removing any component that contacts the plunger tip to avoid damage to the plunger or the mating part.
