The GIBRALTAR MSWN10-5FSL-PTG is a short-type threaded spring plunger designed for precision positioning, indexing, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The body is machined from steel with an M8 x 1.25 thread and a 16 mm thread length, allowing direct installation into tapped holes. The plunger nose is Delrin (acetal), which provides low-friction contact against mating surfaces without marring. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in place after installation, preventing back-out under vibration. Initial end force is 0.23 kg and final end force is 2.04 kg, making this suitable for light-load indexing and positioning tasks. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and mechanical assemblers are the primary installers.
This spring plunger is used in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and machine sub-assemblies where repeatable part positioning or soft detent action is required. The M8 x 1.25 thread is a standard metric coarse pitch, compatible with commonly tapped holes in steel, aluminum, and cast iron tooling components. The short plunger configuration and 5 mm projection suit applications with limited clearance or shallow engagement depth. The Delrin nose reduces wear on softer mating surfaces such as aluminum or plastic workholding components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit spring plunger for mechanical assemblies, jigs, and fixtures requiring an M8 x 1.25 threaded spring plunger with a locking element and short plunger configuration.
Installation is performed by mechanical assemblers or machinists using a standard hex wrench or spanner appropriate for the M8 body. The receiving hole must be clean, properly tapped to M8 x 1.25, and free of chips or debris before threading in the plunger. Engage the locking element per the manufacturer specification to prevent loosening during operation. Do not over-torque the body, as this can damage the internal spring mechanism or the locking element.
