The GIBRALTAR MSW10-5A-G is a standard threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty holding applications in machined assemblies and fixtures. The plunger features an M8 x 1.25 threaded body with a 0.866-inch thread length and a steel nose with a maximum diameter of 0.138 inches and a 0.118-inch projection. Initial end force is 2.02 pounds and final end force is 7.87 pounds, providing reliable spring tension for repetitive positioning tasks. The steel body construction handles typical industrial environments without deformation under normal cycling loads. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and fixture builders install this type of component during assembly or scheduled maintenance on production tooling.
The MSW10-5A-G suits applications where a threaded hole accepts an M8 x 1.25 fastener and a low-profile spring-loaded nose is needed to register, locate, or lightly retain a mating part. Typical installations include jigs, fixtures, machine tool components, and mechanical assemblies requiring repeatable part positioning. The standard plunger length and projection make it a direct fit for conventional M8 threaded plunger pockets found in general industrial tooling. No locking element is included, so it threads directly into a prepared hole without adhesive or secondary locking hardware.
Designed as a standard OEM-style replacement or new-installation threaded spring plunger for M8 x 1.25 tapped plunger pockets in industrial jigs, fixtures, and machine tool assemblies.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool and die technicians using a hex wrench or spanner sized for the M8 body. Ensure the receiving hole is clean, properly tapped to M8 x 1.25, and free of chips or burrs before threading the plunger in. Do not overtighten, as this can compress the internal spring beyond its design range and reduce end force accuracy. Disengage or lock out any machine motion before accessing plunger pockets on active production tooling.
