The GIBRALTAR LN-5-G is a steel L handle plunger designed for use in mechanical positioning, indexing, and workholding applications. It features a non-locking design with a 1/2-13 thread and a 1.1 inch thread length, making it straightforward to install in threaded fixtures and jigs. The plunger delivers 1 pound of initial end force building to 5 pounds of final end force, providing consistent, repeatable spring tension for light-duty clamping and locating tasks. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of component in fixtures, machine tables, and assembly equipment where quick manual adjustment is required.
This plunger is suited for use in manufacturing and industrial environments where a compact, threaded spring plunger is needed for panel, jig, or fixture positioning. With a body length of 2.11 inches, a plunger projection of 0.75 inches, and a plunger diameter of 0.31 inches, it fits standard threaded bores in steel and aluminum workholding components. The L handle configuration allows for manual operation without additional tools, making it practical in production settings where operators need fast, repeatable adjustments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install component for standard 1/2-13 threaded bores in industrial fixtures, jigs, machine tables, and workholding assemblies requiring a non-locking L handle spring plunger.
Install by threading the plunger body into a prepared 1/2-13 tapped hole using the L handle or a wrench on the hex flat, which measures 0.5 inches across. Ensure the mating bore is clean and free of debris before installation. Do not over-torque the body into the threaded bore, as this may damage the spring mechanism or distort the housing. Secure the locknut or jam nut if the application requires the plunger to remain in a fixed axial position.
