The GIBRALTAR GIB53713 is a round U-bolt with a mount plate designed to secure 4-inch pipe in mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC piping systems. Fabricated from C-1010 steel with a hot galvanized finish, this fastener resists corrosion in exposed or damp installation environments. The 1/2-13 UNC thread size provides a reliable, high-strength connection, and the 1-1/2-inch thread length gives adequate engagement with standard hex nuts. Two nuts are included. With a finished length of 6 inches and a width of 4-1/2 inches, this U-bolt fits standard 4-inch pipe schedules and is installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors during pipe support and suspension work.
This U-bolt is suited for residential and commercial pipe support applications involving 4-inch pipe runs. Common use cases include securing horizontal or vertical pipe segments to structural members, equipment bases, or unistrut channel. The mount plate style simplifies attachment to flat surfaces without requiring a separate clamp back. It is commonly used in HVAC hydronic piping, fire protection rough-in, plumbing drain and waste lines, and general mechanical piping installations where a galvanized finish is specified for corrosion resistance.
Designed as an OEM-style pipe support fastener for standard 4-inch pipe in mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC piping systems using inch-standard hardware.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or mechanical contractors in accordance with applicable plumbing and mechanical codes. Power down or shut off the relevant system before disturbing any existing pipe supports. Ensure the mounting surface or structural member is rated to carry the pipe load before fastening. Do not overtighten the nuts in a way that distorts the pipe wall; tighten to snug plus the appropriate turns per standard fastening practice for the pipe material.
