The GIBRALTAR GIB53608 is a round U-bolt with a mount plate, designed to secure 3/8-inch pipe to a flat surface in plumbing, HVAC, and general mechanical installations. Formed from C1010 steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish, it provides corrosion resistance in exposed or damp environments. The fastener uses a 1/4-20 UNC thread standard with a 5/8-inch thread length and an overall length of 1-1/4 inches. Two nuts are included. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters install this type of hardware during pipe routing and support work on small-diameter lines.
This U-bolt is suited for residential and light commercial applications where 3/8-inch pipe must be anchored to a mounting surface. The integrated mount plate simplifies installation on flat substrates such as joists, studs, or equipment panels. Typical use cases include securing copper, steel, or similarly sized tubing in plumbing rough-in, refrigerant line sets, or low-pressure pneumatic runs. The hot-dipped galvanized finish makes it appropriate for installations in unconditioned spaces, crawl spaces, or areas with periodic moisture exposure.
Designed as an OEM-style pipe support fastener for 3/8-inch pipe in residential and light commercial mechanical systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians during pipe support and routing work. Ensure the mounting substrate is structurally sound and that fastener placement meets local code spacing requirements for pipe supports. Tighten nuts evenly to avoid distorting the U-bolt legs or crushing the pipe wall. Do not overtighten on soft tubing materials such as copper.
