The GIBRALTAR GIB53092 is a round U-bolt designed to secure 2-1/2 inch pipe in mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC piping applications. Manufactured from C-1010 steel with a hot galvanized finish, this U-bolt resists corrosion in exposed or damp installation environments. The 3/8-16 UNC thread pattern provides reliable fastening with standard hardware, and the 1-1/4 inch thread length accommodates typical strut or structural attachment points. Two nuts are included for immediate installation. At 0.26 pounds, this is a lightweight but durable fastener suited for both new construction and retrofit work by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters.
The GIB53092 is used wherever 2-1/2 inch pipe requires support or anchoring to structural members, unistrut channel, or flat mounting surfaces. Common applications include domestic water piping, HVAC refrigerant or drain lines, and general mechanical piping runs in residential and light commercial settings. The hot galvanized finish makes it appropriate for outdoor, rooftop, or other environments where bare steel would be subject to oxidation. This U-bolt ships without a mount plate, so the installer supplies the appropriate backing hardware for the specific mounting surface.
Designed as an OEM-style pipe support fastener for 2-1/2 inch pipe in mechanical and plumbing piping systems where a round U-bolt without mount plate is specified.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician following applicable IPC or IFGC support spacing requirements. Shut off and depressurize any active piping before repositioning or securing lines. Use the included nuts with a properly sized wrench; avoid overtightening, which can distort the pipe or thread. Verify that the mounting surface or strut channel is rated for the pipe load before fastening.
