The GIBRALTAR G-112492 is a horizontal drill press vise designed for secure workpiece clamping during drilling operations. It features a 2-5/8 inch jaw opening capacity and a 1-1/2 inch throat depth, giving technicians and machinists enough bite and clearance for a wide range of stock sizes. The jaw width measures 2-7/16 inches, and the vise is constructed from cast iron for rigidity and resistance to deflection under load. The stationary base keeps the vise fixed to the drill press table without swivel movement. At 7-1/8 inches overall length and a height of 2-9/16 inches, this is a compact, purpose-built tool suitable for bench-top drill press setups in machine shops, fabrication shops, and maintenance departments.
This vise is intended for use on drill press tables in both light industrial and shop-maintenance environments. The horizontal orientation and stationary base make it well suited for standard through-hole drilling, reaming, and light countersinking operations on flat or bar stock. It is a practical choice for machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals who need reliable, repeatable workholding without a rotating base. Standard spindle operation means no quick-release mechanism — clamping is done through conventional screw advance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit workholding vise for standard bench-top and floor-standing drill press tables with T-slot or flat mounting surfaces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or qualified shop technician. Before mounting, ensure the drill press table is clean and free of chips or debris that could affect seating. Secure the vise to the table using appropriate T-slot bolts or clamps rated for the table slot size — do not overtighten fasteners to the point of distorting the vise base. Verify that the vise jaw is aligned perpendicular to the spindle axis before commencing any drilling operation.
