The GIBRALTAR DCIM20-51 is a medium-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, molds, and tooling fixtures where consistent, repeatable force is required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 189 pounds at 0.83 inches of maximum deflection. The spring rate is 228 pounds per inch, providing predictable resistance through the full compression cycle. The blue color coding identifies it as a medium-duty spring per industry convention. It is sold individually and suited for installation by tooling engineers, die setters, and maintenance machinists working on punch press or injection mold applications.
This die spring fits standard die sets and mold bases with a 0.75 inch hole diameter and a 0.375 inch rod diameter. The 2 inch free length makes it appropriate for moderate-stroke tooling applications in both production stamping and prototype tooling environments. It conforms to NAAMS and ISO 10243 standards, making it a compatible replacement in tooling designed to those dimensional and performance specifications. Industrial maintenance technicians and tool-and-die shops will find it a direct-fit option in fixtures originally engineered to metric or NAAMS-standard spring slots.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for medium-duty die springs conforming to NAAMS and ISO 10243 dimensional standards, fitting tooling with a 0.75 inch hole diameter and 0.375 inch rod diameter.
Die springs should be installed by qualified tool-and-die technicians or maintenance machinists with the press or mold fully de-energized and pressure relieved before service. Ensure the spring seat and rod are free of burrs or debris that could cause uneven loading or premature fatigue. Do not exceed the specified maximum deflection of 0.83 inches, as operating beyond this limit will reduce spring life significantly. Inspect the spring for set or cracking at scheduled die maintenance intervals.
