The GIBRALTAR DCIM20-32 is a medium-duty die spring engineered for use in tooling, stamping dies, and industrial press applications. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section for higher load capacity relative to round-wire springs of the same envelope size. The spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 205 pounds at 0.53 inches of maximum deflection, with a spring rate of 388 pounds per inch. The hole diameter is 0.75 inches, the rod diameter is 0.375 inches, and the free length is 1.25 inches. Manufactured from chromium alloy steel, it resists fatigue and deformation under repeated cycling. Licensed HVAC technicians, tool and die machinists, and maintenance technicians are the typical installers.
This spring is suited for medium-duty press tool, injection mold, and stamping die assemblies where consistent return force and dimensional repeatability are required. The blue color coding identifies medium-duty load class per ISO 10243 conventions. The compact 1.25-inch free length and standard hole and rod dimensions make it a straightforward drop-in for tooling designed around common die spring envelope sizes. Die springs are installed and serviced by tool and die technicians and maintenance machinists. Always de-energize and lock out the press or machine before accessing the tooling. Inspect the mating rod and housing bore for wear or misalignment before installing a replacement spring. Do not compress the spring beyond the rated maximum deflection of 0.53 inches, as over-compression accelerates fatigue failure and can damage adjacent tooling components.
