The GIBRALTAR DCIM20-305 is a medium-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, molds, and precision tooling applications. It features a trapezoidal wire shape wound from chromium alloy steel, giving it a higher load capacity in a compact profile compared to round-wire springs of the same outer diameter. The spring has a 3/4 inch hole diameter, a 3/8 inch rod diameter, and a 12 inch free length. At maximum deflection of 5.2 inches, it delivers a load of 190 pounds. The spring rate is 37 pounds per inch. The blue color coding identifies it as medium-duty per ISO and NAAMS standards. Installation is handled by tool and die makers, machinists, and press maintenance technicians.
This die spring is suited for medium-duty press tooling, injection mold assemblies, stripper plates, and similar industrial spring applications where consistent, repeatable force is required over high cycle counts. The 3/8 inch rod diameter guides it onto standard die spring rod installations. Its 12 inch free length makes it appropriate for applications requiring longer stroke or higher total deflection within a guided die set. The blue duty rating is consistent with medium load classifications used across automotive and general industrial tooling.
Designed as a standard medium-duty die spring for guided rod installations with a 3/8 inch rod diameter and a maximum bore of 3/4 inch hole diameter, conforming to ISO 10243 and NAAMS dimensional standards.
Die springs of this type are installed and serviced by tool and die makers or press maintenance technicians. Always de-energize and lock out the press before performing any spring replacement on a die set. The spring must be properly guided over the rod and seated squarely in the pocket to prevent lateral loading and premature fatigue. Inspect the rod and pocket bore for wear or scoring before installing a replacement spring.
