The GIBRALTAR DCIM10-64 is a medium-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, molds, and industrial tooling applications. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section wound from chromium alloy steel, which delivers higher load capacity per unit length compared to standard round-wire springs. With a free length of 2.5 inches, a hole diameter of 0.375 inches, and a rod diameter of 0.1875 inches, this spring fits standard die sets where precise load and deflection control are required. The maximum deflection load is 52 pounds, and maximum deflection is 1.39 inches. The blue color coding identifies it as a medium-duty spring per industry convention, helping toolmakers quickly identify the correct spring grade during setup or replacement.
The DCIM10-64 is suited for die and mold applications in light to medium production environments where consistent spring force and repeatable travel are critical. It is commonly installed in progressive dies, injection mold assemblies, stripper plates, and punch retention systems. Toolmakers, die setters, and mold technicians working on metal stamping or plastics processing equipment are the primary installers. This spring meets NAAMS and ISO 10243 dimensional standards, making it a direct interchange in tooling designed to those specifications.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-build die spring for tooling that conforms to NAAMS and ISO 10243 dimensional standards, requiring a 0.375 inch hole diameter, 0.1875 inch rod diameter, and 2.5 inch free length in the medium-duty blue classification.
Die spring installation and replacement is performed by qualified toolmakers or die setters with the press locked out and all stored energy released before accessing the die set. Inspect the guide rod and bore for wear or damage before installing a replacement spring, as misalignment will accelerate fatigue. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 1.39 inches, as over-compression will shorten service life and may cause spring failure. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and tooling OEM documentation for preload and seating requirements.
