The GIBRALTAR DCIL40-102 is a light-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, presses, and tooling fixtures where controlled compression force and consistent return travel are required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, it delivers a maximum deflection load of 561 pounds and a maximum deflection of 2.02 inches over a 4-inch free length. The green color coding follows the ISO 10243 standard for light-duty classification, making identification quick during die setup and maintenance. Toolmakers, die setters, and press maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this component.
This die spring fits standard die sets and tooling plates with a 1.5-inch hole diameter and accommodates a 0.75-inch rod diameter. It is suited for applications requiring moderate cycling in metal stamping, forming, and blanking operations at the light-duty load range. The 4-inch free length compresses to a solid length of approximately 2.02 inches at maximum load. It is appropriate for both production tooling and maintenance replacement in industrial press environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for light-duty die spring positions requiring a 1.5-inch hole diameter, 0.75-inch rod diameter, and 4-inch free length in standard die sets and tooling fixtures conforming to NAAMS or ISO 10243 dimensional standards.
Die springs are installed and replaced by toolmakers or die maintenance technicians during scheduled die service or when spring fatigue or set is detected. Always relieve all press pressure and lock out the press ram before removing or installing die springs. Inspect the mating rod and hole surfaces for burrs or damage that could cause uneven loading or premature wear on the spring. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection, as overtravel will accelerate fatigue and reduce service life.
