The GIBRALTAR DCIB25-89 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for use in metal stamping dies, tooling fixtures, and press applications where consistent force and reliable cycling are required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 686 pounds at 1.11 inches of travel. The yellow color coding identifies it as an extra heavy-duty rating per industry convention. With a spring rate of 620 pounds per inch, it provides predictable, linear force output across its travel range. Toolmakers, die setters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this spring in punch and die assemblies.
This die spring fits tooling applications requiring a 1 inch hole diameter and 0.5 inch rod diameter with a 3.5 inch free length. It is suited for progressive dies, compound dies, stripper plates, and similar press tooling in manufacturing and fabrication environments. The compressed length at maximum load is 1.11 inches, giving a travel to solid of approximately 1.10 inches. Its heavy-duty rating makes it appropriate for high-cycle production tooling where lighter-duty springs would fatigue prematurely.
Designed as a direct replacement for standard die spring applications requiring a 1 inch hole diameter, 0.5 inch rod diameter, and 3.5 inch free length in NAAMS- and ISO 10243-compliant tooling setups.
Die springs are installed by qualified toolmakers or die setters with the press locked out and all stored energy safely dissipated before service. Ensure the mating rod and pocket bore dimensions match the specified rod and hole diameters before installation. Do not exceed the rated maximum deflection of 1.11 inches during operation, as over-compression accelerates fatigue and can cause premature spring failure. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and press lockout/tagout protocols during any tooling change.
