The GIBRALTAR DCIB20-38 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for use in metal stamping dies, punch tooling, and press tooling applications. It features a trapezoidal wire shape wound from chromium alloy steel, which provides high load capacity in a compact free length of 1.5 inches. With a maximum deflection load of 434 pounds and a spring rate of 1,137 pounds per inch, this spring delivers consistent, repeatable force under high-cycle industrial conditions. The yellow color coding identifies it as an extra heavy-duty rating per ISO and NAAMS standards. Licensed toolmakers and die maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This die spring is suited for industrial press and stamping tooling where high compressive loads are required in tight clearances. The 0.75-inch hole diameter and 0.375-inch rod diameter allow it to fit standard guided spring pockets commonly found in progressive, compound, and transfer die sets. It is appropriate for both OEM die builds and maintenance replacement in production tooling environments.

Die springs of this type are installed and replaced by toolmakers or die maintenance technicians during scheduled die maintenance or at end-of-service-life intervals. Always de-energize and lock out the press before accessing the die set. Inspect the spring pocket bore and guide rod for wear or damage before installing a replacement spring. Never pre-compress beyond the rated maximum deflection, as exceeding travel limits accelerates fatigue failure.
