The GIBRALTAR DCIB20-102 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, presses, and tooling fixtures where high-load cycling performance is required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 420 pounds (1869 N) and a spring rate of 389 pounds per inch. The 3/4-inch hole diameter accommodates standard guide posts, while the 3/8-inch rod diameter and 4-inch free length suit a wide range of die set configurations. Installation is typically performed by toolmakers and die maintenance technicians. The yellow color coding indicates extra heavy-duty duty rating per industry convention.
This die spring is suited for industrial tooling applications including metal stamping dies, injection mold springs, and press tooling where consistent, repeatable spring force under high-cycle conditions is required. The trapezoidal wire profile increases load capacity relative to round wire springs of the same envelope size, making it appropriate for confined die spaces that demand extra heavy-duty performance. Ensure the guide post and bore dimensions match the rod and hole diameter specifications before installation. Do not compress the spring beyond the rated maximum deflection of 1.08 inches to avoid permanent set or premature fatigue failure. Inspect mating hardware for wear or misalignment before installing a replacement spring.
