The GIBRALTAR DCIB16-76 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, molds, and press tooling applications. Manufactured from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire shape, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 224 pounds and a spring rate of 228 pounds per inch. The yellow color coding identifies its extra heavy-duty duty rating per industry convention. At 3 inches free length and a compressed length of 0.98 inches at maximum load, it is sized for demanding high-cycle tooling work. Installation and replacement are typically performed by tool and die makers, mold technicians, or maintenance machinists.
This die spring is suited for use in stamping dies, injection mold tooling, and similar precision press applications where consistent, high-force spring return is required. The 0.625 inch hole diameter and 0.344 inch rod diameter allow it to fit standard die set guide rod configurations. Maximum deflection is 0.980 inches, and travel to solid load measures 0.992 inches. Its compact compressed geometry makes it appropriate for tight die set clearances in both prototype and production tooling environments.
Designed as a standard die spring replacement conforming to NAAMS and ISO 10243 dimensional standards, suitable for use in stamping dies, molds, and press tooling that accept a 0.625 inch hole diameter and 0.344 inch rod diameter spring with a 3 inch free length.
Die spring replacement should be performed by qualified tool and die or mold maintenance personnel with the press or tooling equipment fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the mating guide rod and bore for wear or damage before installing the new spring. Never compress a die spring beyond its rated maximum deflection, as over-compression can cause premature fatigue failure or spring fracture. Use proper spring removal tools to safely manage stored energy during disassembly.
