The GIBRALTAR DCIB16-44 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for high-load tooling and stamping applications. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire profile, it delivers a maximum deflection load of 221 pounds (983.45 N) and a spring rate of 404 pounds per inch. The 0.625-inch hole diameter accommodates standard die sets, and the 11/32-inch (0.3438-inch) rod diameter keeps the spring centered under compression. With a free length of 1.75 inches and a maximum deflection of 0.55 inches, this spring is suited for precision tool and die work where consistent force and repeatable travel are critical. Typically installed by toolmakers, press operators, and maintenance machinists.
The DCIB16-44 fits standard die spring pockets in punch-and-die tooling, stamping dies, molds, and fixture assemblies. Its extra heavy-duty rating makes it appropriate for high-cycle press operations that require sustained load capacity. The yellow color coding follows ISO 10243 convention for extra heavy-duty die springs, providing quick visual identification during die setup and maintenance. This spring ships individually and is stocked as a single-unit replacement for field and shop use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement die spring for standard punch-and-die tooling, stamping dies, and fixture assemblies requiring a 0.625-inch hole diameter and 11/32-inch rod diameter with a 1.75-inch free length.
Die springs should be installed by qualified toolmakers or maintenance machinists familiar with press tooling procedures. Relieve all press pressure and lock out the press ram before removing or installing die springs. Ensure the spring pocket depth and rod clearance match the spring dimensions before seating. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 0.55 inches to avoid permanent set or failure.
