The GIBRALTAR DCIB12.5-44 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, molds, and press tooling applications. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section, which provides a higher load capacity compared to standard round-wire springs of the same envelope size. With a free length of 1.75 inches, a hole diameter of 0.5 inches, and a rod diameter of 0.2813 inches, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 103 pounds at 0.65 inches of travel. Manufactured from chromium alloy steel, it is color-coded yellow to indicate extra heavy-duty load rating per international die spring standards. Licensed toolmakers and die maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This die spring is suited for use in metal stamping dies, injection molds, and progressive tooling where high cyclic loads and tight envelope dimensions are required. The extra heavy-duty duty rating makes it appropriate for applications demanding high spring force within a compact axial space. The yellow color coding is consistent with NAAMS and ISO 10243 classification, making it straightforward to identify and cross-reference during toolroom maintenance or die repair operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement die spring conforming to NAAMS and ISO 10243 standards, suitable for tooling applications requiring a 0.5-inch hole diameter, 0.2813-inch rod diameter, and 1.75-inch free length in an extra heavy-duty yellow classification.
Die springs are installed and serviced by toolmakers or die maintenance technicians, typically during die setup or scheduled preventive maintenance. Always relieve all press tonnage and isolate energy sources before removing or replacing springs in a die assembly. Springs should be seated squarely on the rod and pocket without lateral binding. Do not compress beyond the rated maximum deflection to avoid permanent set or premature failure.
