The GIBRALTAR BHG3689-G is a steel die mold shoulder bushing designed to guide and locate punches, pins, or mating components within die sets and mold assemblies. Machined from steel with a non-self-lubricating friction fit, this bushing provides a fixed bore of 0.5 inches inside diameter and an overall length of 0.875 inches. The shoulder head measures 0.875 inches in diameter with a head height of 0.1875 inches, and the body outside diameter is 0.7505 inches at the bottom. It is sold individually and is a standard toolroom component installed by die makers, mold technicians, and tool and die professionals.
This shoulder bushing is suited for use in stamping dies, injection mold tooling, and precision fixture applications where controlled alignment of moving components is required. The friction bushing design is appropriate for lower-cycle or maintenance-accessible tooling where press-fit retention without lubrication grooves is acceptable. Its compact overall length makes it compatible with thin die plates and shallow mold bases in both short-run and production tooling environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard toolroom component for steel die sets and mold bases requiring a shoulder bushing with a 0.5 inch bore and 0.875 inch overall length.
Installation is typically performed by a tool and die maker or mold technician using an arbor press to drive the bushing into a correctly toleranced bore in the die plate. Ensure the receiving bore diameter matches the 0.7505 inch body outside diameter to achieve proper press-fit retention. Shut down and de-energize all press or molding equipment before removing or installing tooling components. This bushing is non-self-lubricating and does not incorporate oil grooves, so verify that the application cycle rate and load are appropriate for a friction-type bushing before installation.
