The GIBRALTAR 9539SS-G is a headless rolling ball end clamping screw used to secure workpieces, fixtures, and tooling in machine tool, jig, and fixture applications. The rolling ball tip distributes clamping force evenly across the contact point, reducing marring on finished or precision surfaces. Built from 18-8 stainless steel throughout, including both the screw body and the ball, this fastener resists corrosion in coolant-wet or washdown environments. The 5/8-11 UNC thread and 1.5-inch overall length make it a standard fit for medium-duty fixturing work. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders are the typical end users.
This clamping screw is suited for use in machine shop fixturing, coordinate measuring machine setups, and production jig assemblies where repeated clamping cycles are required. The headless profile keeps the fastener flush or below the work surface, eliminating snag points in automated or manual part-loading operations. Its stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for environments where standard alloy steel fasteners would corrode prematurely, such as near cutting fluid sumps or in food-adjacent production settings.
Designed as a standard 5/8-11 UNC headless clamping screw for use with threaded fixture blocks, jig plates, and tooling bodies that accept rolling ball end clamping fasteners.
Installation requires a hex key or spanner wrench sized for the headless socket drive. Verify that the mating threaded hole is clean and free of chips or coolant debris before threading the screw in. Apply only enough torque to achieve the required clamping force — do not exceed the fixture body thread rating. Always de-energize or lock out any machine before adjusting clamping screws in a live fixture.
