The GIBRALTAR 826710-G is a slip-fit inspection tooling ball used in precision measurement and fixturing applications. The hardened steel ball measures 0.375 inches in diameter and mounts on a 0.1875-inch shank with a slip-fit attachment. Ball center to shank bottom measures 0.75 inches. The shank holds a tight tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0004 inches, and ball-to-shank concentricity is held to 0.0002 inches. This level of precision makes it a reliable reference point for CMM setups, optical comparators, and inspection fixtures used by machinists and quality technicians.
This tooling ball is suited for inspection and gauging setups in manufacturing environments where repeatable, accurate reference points are required. The slip-fit shank design allows it to seat into a precision-reamed hole without threads, simplifying installation and removal during fixturing cycles. It is commonly used in machine shops, tool rooms, and quality control departments working with coordinate measuring machines and other precision inspection equipment.
Designed as a standard slip-fit inspection tooling ball for use in precision fixturing and gauging applications requiring a 3/16-inch reamed shank hole and a 3/8-inch reference ball.
Installation is performed by machinists or quality technicians familiar with precision fixturing. The shank is pressed or hand-fitted into a precision-reamed hole sized to accept the slip-fit diameter. Ensure the receiving hole is clean and free of burrs before seating the ball. Do not force the shank into undersized holes, as this can affect concentricity and measurement accuracy.
