The GIBRALTAR 60551G is an unequal double threaded stud designed for fastening applications where two different thread engagement lengths are required on a single fastener. Manufactured from carbon steel with a black oxide finish, this stud features an M12 x 1.75 thread form with an overall length of approximately 1.97 inches (50 mm). The long thread measures 20 mm and the short thread measures 16 mm, providing clear differentiation between the two engagement ends. It carries a Material Grade 5 rating and a Thread Fit Class of 50. Installers in mechanical, industrial, and trade applications select this stud when standard equal-length studs do not meet the joint or assembly requirement.
This threaded stud is suited for mechanical assemblies, equipment mounting, and structural fastening tasks where metric M12 threading is specified. The unequal thread lengths make it appropriate for applications where one end threads into a tapped hole or casting while the other end accepts a nut for clamping. It is commonly used in HVAC equipment mounting, plumbing fixture assemblies, and general industrial maintenance work. The black oxide finish provides a degree of mild corrosion resistance under typical indoor or controlled-environment conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fastener for any assembly specifying an M12 x 1.75 unequal double threaded stud with a 50 mm overall length and Thread Fit Class 50.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed mechanic, millwright, or maintenance technician using a stud driver or double-nut method. Shut down and de-energize any equipment before fastener replacement. Thread the short end into the tapped base material to the specified depth before assembling the mating component onto the long thread end. Avoid using impact tools on threaded studs without appropriate adapters, as this can damage the thread form.
